As a Senior Accountant , you will be a key member of the finance & accounting team and will be instrumental in supporting UPG's long-term growth. You will support and report into the Divisional Controller, assisting in the month end closing process, recording journal entries, and maintaining reconciliation schedules. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting of P&L and working capital accounts. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will assist with building out UPG training materials, documenting policies and procedures, as well as helping to identify opportunities to optimize future growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares, records and tracks journal entries and general ledger reconciliations including cash, A/R, A/P, Inventory, prepaids, debt, accruals, and intercompany transactions. May review account reconciliations performed by other team members.
  • Serves as the lead team member for intercompany balancing and works to identify and reconcile intercompany balances with UPG Entities.
  • Supports the monthly close process, including preparation and review of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Consolidates and verifies financial data from business units with operational personnel and identifies and investigates irregularities.
  • Responds to business unit questions regarding accounting policies or implications and provides guidance and support to the operations teams.
  • Provides data as requested to internal and external auditors for the operating group.
  • Provides back up for the Group Controller with leading month end close.
  • Works with corporate accounting team to streamline and improve current accounting processes to facilitate the month end close and reconciliation processes.
  • Performs tasks in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Works closely with other Shared Services functions (Treasury, HR, Sales, Tax) as it relates to the ongoing operational and reporting needs of the company.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a multi-site company environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Strong SAP experience with T-Code understanding and usage
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in ambiguous environments- analytically interpret financial information- and improve business processes.
  • Possess critical thinking skills as well as a desire to work with data and utilize an analytical skillset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with drive to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced MS Excel skillse.g. pivot table, V lookup, indirect, index, etc.
  • Accounting experience within the manufacturing industry
