This Job Announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received. The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Intern. The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Intern (Cybersecurity) in the Cyber Security section of the Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETS). This is a part-time, 19 hours per week, non benefit-eligible position. This Job Announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received. General Description Performs support duties in an agency in order to gain knowledge, skills and professional experience. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures. Work is reviewed through observation of performance, frequent conferences and reports. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related field (i.e. Information Systems or Engineering). Special Certifications and Licenses None. Preferences * Experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, Powershell or .Net
  • Network Security Experience
  • Information Security Defense Experience
  • Penetration Testing Experience
  • A+, Sec+, Network+ or Other relevant Security certifications
  • IT Security experience in vulnerability assessment or security architecture
  • Minimum one year experience infrastructure server or desktop experience
  • Minimum one year experience application programming/coding

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
  • Applies research techniques and analytical methods to the study of administrative systems, organizational structures, policies and procedures related to the area of assignment.
  • Provides administrative support to agency. Conducts special studies in conjunction with a project; analyzes data and makes recommendations based upon research. * Responsible for project assignments, research and analysis. * Provides information and assistance to the general public and other governmental agencies. * Prepares project reports and related data. * Research information security projects such as security threats, vulnerabilities, and new technologies. * Assist with monitoring and identifying threats through log analysis.
  • Assist with metrics reporting, tracking vulnerabilities and threats both internal and external.
  • Participate in ETS Phishing campaigns, researching current threats and assisting with metrics and reporting.
  • Create and support programming and scripting of security systems and reports using Python and Powershell.
  • Provide supporting documentation for research and procurement programs.
  • Assist with DLP scanning, compile reports, create tickets.
  • Assist with audits such as Active Directory, HIPAA, and policy, procedure, and training reviews.
  • Learn technologies such as: TCP/IP, Access Control Lists, Firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
  • Conduct Firewall rule audits.
Performs related work as assigned.
