Winery Harvest Interns Needed (Santa Maria + Los Olivos)

Fess Parker Winery in Los Olivos, CA is a family-owned producer of highly acclaimed wines with a focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rhone varietals. Fruit is sourced from our 110-acre estate vineyard as well as some of the most coveted sites throughout Santa Barbara County. We are currently seeking a lab intern to join our crew for the 2024 harvest. The position will begin in mid-August and last through the end of harvest (November or later).

Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Laboratory analysis for pH, TA, juice panels, etc.
•  Daily Brix and temperature monitoring, inoculations and additions, fermentation and barrel sampling.
•  Assist with cellar activities including fruit sorting, pumpovers/punchdowns, racking, filling barrels, cleaning, etc.

Requirements:

•  Strong attention to detail
•  Ability to accurately follow instructions and take direction
•  Team oriented with positive attitude
•  Prior winery laboratory work preferred but not required
•  Must be available to work full time including weekends and overtime

Physical Demands:

During the performance of the job the employee will be required to work long durations. Daily tasks will require standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Given the nature of the job, the work environment may occasionally have wet or slippery floors, dangerous chemicals and gases, loud noises, and cluttered areas of hoses and machinery. The employee must be able to always observe good safety practices.
