Field Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work of medium to high complexity as per work instructions and ABB guidelines. Each day, you will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. You will also showcase your expertise by working with customer to identify opportunities in the installed base, to improve system performance and operational performance. The work model for the role is onsite in Cary, NC You will be mainly accountable for: Achieve all SOW milestones and deliverables within specified time frames and contractual obligations. Address issues with Supplier’s workers promptly to maintain service levels and quality. Install, maintain, repair, and commission equipment for power delivery, control systems, and power quality systems. Serve as the primary on-site representative to the ABB end customer and other ABB field personnel. Assist customers with technical understanding, reliability improvement, and cost reduction. Maintain documentation, complete reports, and travel up to 60% of the time, primarily within the VA, NC, SC, GA, FL region.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s with 5 years’ experience in power systems, startup/commissioning, testing, and maintenance. or a combination of education and experience (2-year degree with 5 years’ experience in power systems, startup/commissioning, testing, and maintenance or HS diploma with 10 years’ experience in power systems, startup/commissioning, testing, and maintenance).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience performing power systems design, startup/commissioning, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience with various electrical controls and systems to include: Mid-Voltage Switchgear, Low-Voltage Switchgear, Switchgear, Power Panels & Motor Control Center (MCC), Generators & Transformers Maintenance, Electromechanical Repairs, Relay Testing & installation, Instruments; PLC’s & DCS, Wiring Diagrams, Blueprints & Schematics, Test Equipment & Instruments, Communications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in repair troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing of assigned programs / hardware.
  • Project management or supervisory experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all areas of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Safety Codes and Regulations and QA (Local & National).
  • Special training on Industrial Controls (PLC’s, HMI’s, etc.).
  • Electrical Licensed preferred (Journeyman license, Master’s License, or Qualifier for state). Willingness to obtain license, as required.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
