What You’ll Do As a Small Business Consultant, you’ll be the first point of contact for many of our clients—triaging inquiries, providing targeted resources, and offering in-depth consulting. You’ll work directly with entrepreneurs to: Develop business and marketing plans Prepare clients to create financial projections Improve operations and increase profitability Navigate challenges and identify growth opportunities You’ll also represent the SBDC at local events, build relationships within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and contribute to special projects and non-credit courses. Key Job Responsibilities: May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program Department: Wisconsin School of Business, Small Business Development Center Compensation: The starting salary for the position is $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits information can be found at ( Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience in business or project management and/or small business ownership Preferred Qualifications: Strong understanding of small business operations Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to analyze complex business problems and craft actionable solutions Experience with business planning tools (e.g., Business Model Canvas) Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and projections Public speaking or teaching experience Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required; in business, management, finance, marketing, communications or related field Masters of Business Administration or related field preferred.
